Rules & Regulations
  • No aggressive dogs. If your dog is older than 6 months, it must be sterilized. This is compulsory. The reason for this is: The Top Dog in the pack will be more aggressive towards dogs that are intact, because they will threaten his "position" in the pack, while sterilized dogs don't feel the need to be the boss. There has never been any fights at Puppylove Daycare, and it has been prevented by only having sterilized dogs in the daycare. Your dog will be tested for this on his/her first day. If you sterilize your dog after 6 months eg. a year, the testosterone or estrogen will take 1 ½ months to leave his/her system. Your dog will only be able to attend daycare after that period of time has passed.
  • Please have your dog here at 06:30 on his/her first day, (VERY IMPORTANT) so he/she can be one of the first dogs in the daycare, otherwise he/she has to meet them all at once, which can be stressful on his/her first day.
  • When you collect or drop off, please try to not have an excited voice. Try to not give a lot of attention to your dog until you are in the car. Reason being, an excited owner equals an excited pup equals excited other dogs equals noise and can lead to misplaced aggression and nipping. We try to keep the daycare a calm environment.
  • Pickup strictly after 15:00 and dropoff before 9:30 daily. This is to not disturb the dogs during their sleeping period and to work all their energy off effectively.
  • We also do sleepovers! Contact us via email for more info on this ( with a dropoff time and date and a collection time and date for a quotation. (R130 per night)
  • Please bring along an updated copy of your dog's vaccination papers. Your dog will NOT be able to attend Puppylove daycare without it. Enquire at your vet about a medical booklet for your dog. It is compulsory that you vaccinate your dog against Kennel Cough before bringing him to daycare.
  • Should you wish to buy your doggie a jacket for winter, please buy the cheap fleece ones, as they almost always get damaged as the doggies play. We cannot take any responsibility for clothes destroyed.
  • Public holidays will still be charged although we are closed.
  • Food for your dog must be provided. Most owners feed their own dogs in the mornings and evenings, and Puppylove Daycare feed at 12:00. Please bring a clearly marked container with your dogs’ name on. We feed puppies up to 6 months of age. After sterilization, it’s a good idea to start feeding them x2 a day at home.
  • All dogs MUST be fitted with a collar and tag with the owner's number. The municipal bylaw states: Every dog of six months or older must be provided with a collar on which, or attached to which, the name and number of the owner appears.
  • Your dog will be tested for social skills on the first day. For obvious reasons, no aggression towards other dogs will be tolerated. Aggressive behaviour will result in your dog being separated from the other dogs or in extreme cases your dog will be removed from daycare. Likewise, aggression towards humans will not be accepted. The purpose of the assessment is to ensure that your dog will fit in with the rest of the pack and doesn’t have any undesirable behaviors that will pose a risk to humans, other dogs, or the daycare. Undesirable behavior includes, but is not limited to, aggression towards any humans or animals, excessive barking or howling, and severe separation anxiety leading to escape attempts or very destructive behavior. Unfortunately, as this is to ensure the safety of all furry charges and the longevity of the business, it is of the utmost importance and we have to be strict.
  • The other requirements for daycare attendance are more fully covered in the Service Agreement but include the fact that all dogs must be: 1. Up-to-date with their vaccinations 2. Dewormed regularly 3. Free of ticks and fleas 4. Spayed/neutered if older than 6 months 5. In good health 6. Wearing a collar with an identity tag containing their name and your contact number 7. Brought in and out of the daycare on a lead.
  • In the event that your dog gets removed from daycare, no refunds will be given. Puppylove will rarely just remove a dog from the pack, we like working with the owners on problems, as they do sometimes arise, although we do reserve the right to remove an animal immediately if it’s a danger to us or the other dogs.
  • Bookings will not be moved out if no prior notice were given, as each dog has a holding in daycare. If your dog will not attend daycare the next day/month that it is booked, let Puppylove know one day in advance, so another dog can be booked in your dog’s space. The day cancelled can then be moved out to a more appropriate date. No refunds will be given, but days can be moved out to suit the owner’s schedule. (subject to availability)
  • No needless, continuous barking will be tolerated. This behaviour will be addressed.
  • Durbanville branch open Mon-Fri 06:30 to 18:00 (traffic depending)
Durbanville dogs must be dropped off between 6:30 – 09:30 and picked up 15:00 – 18:00
  • Tableview branch open Mon-Fri 06:30 to 18:00 (traffic depending)
Tableview dogs must be dropped off between 6:30 – 9:30 and picked up 15:00 – 18:00
  • Due to the aggressiveness/dominance of the breed, we do not accept any Pitbulls, Bullterriers, Staffies or Rottweilers. We have small breed dogs and puppies often and they tend to want to have a “go” at them. We have to think about the client’s dogs already in the daycare’s safety. If a pup comes in at 8 weeks however, we can try socialise him or her for as long as possible, we understand not all dogs of any breed are the same.
  • We will do everything in our power to discuss any issues we are experiencing with an owner, to work together on problem behaviours together with the owner. (for example sudden pacing or increase in barking) we do experience changes in the daycare sometimes as the dogs grow and adjust to the pack. We are here to make the daycare a happy safe place for everyone. Behaviour is unpredictable though, and can result in trying different techniques to eventually find what works for the specific dog. We ask that clients have patience with us in this regard. Every dog is unique.
  • Daycare is not a substitute for exercise, we strongly suggest owners walk their dogs regularly and socialise them outside of the daycare often. The daycare is a pack, and although they all teach each other amazing social skills your dog will still need to meet strange dogs in public places as often as possible. We highly recommend taking your pup to puppy socialization classes, the more you do the better your chance of your dog becoming a well rounded good canine citizen!
  1. Fees are payable in advance, on or before the first of each month, irrespective of absenteeism due to vacation or illness.
  2. We need a FULL month’s notice should you wish to stop daycare for your dog, or you will be liable for a month’s payment even if your dog does not attend daycare.
